Business ethics: The moral and ethical aspect of the French strikes

The American newspaper International Herald Tribune (Edition from Saturday and Sunday 17-18 November) decided to do its front page about the strike in France. That shows the importance of the strike and its paralyzed effects on the economy and on the well-being of the users. But that demonstrate as well a phenomenon of misunderstood for others countries. How cannot the national transportation work? But this misunderstood comes from a cultural difference. In France, when employees are doing a strike they are protected, they cannot be fired. It is recognized as a right. The impact of the history on our society is strong and this heritage helps to understand the situation during a strike. The French Revolution from 1789 put in place a lot of rights in the goal of protection of people against ?Bourgeoisie? and ?Aristocrats?. So people were able to show their dissension against the Power in place.

[...] But the interpretation of this kind of extreme situation is very personal and comes from the moral compass of each one. The moral compass is the result of a system values and the education. In others terms, it is the morality of one person to think and to react in a specific situation. Values have different degrees, the first one is for individual needs or individual behaviour, and it is when the person has relatively modest goals in his life. This person is a decent, honorable person and he/she is trying to do the right thing. [...]
[...] This situation demonstrates the effect of a non-ethical way of business. Because, the loaner are in trouble. Moreover, this situation is playing against the market and will fragile the housing market. The risk to adopt an unethical and immoral behavior sometimes has nothing to do with pragmatism and doing profits but more doing damage on life and economy as well. In the French strike situation, the same problem appear because the behaviors of each part are inspired on indivualism so each one is not looking for negotiation but looking for the better strategies to have right The state situation: a reason to reform The debt: Government debt is money owed by any level of government; either central government, federal government, municipal government or local government. The public sector worker like railway, post office, the student, policemen are doing this strike against the reform policies from the President Sarkozy. The users are under the control of the transportation (metro and train) and they call themselves the hostages of this situation.90% of the train are cancelled and the metro is largely shut down as well. [...] This reaction can take different form and in the public sector, generally, it is translated by a strike and if the government is staying on its positions it can easily come to an extreme situation. The change of standard is always linked to moral and ethical aspect. The willing to increase their profits push the bank to put in place a system of variable mortgage called sub prime. Nowadays, the credit rates increased a lot and bank customers are not able to pay their mortgage anymore. [...]
[...] Ten thousand people marched in Paris yesterday chanting, "Stop the Strike" and "Let Us Work." Commuters are exasperated by almost a week of transport gridlock. That demonstrates the dissension between two groups or two systems of values. The strikers are against the reform and the users of the transportation are more and more against the public worker. The politic party of the President demonstrates in the street its opposition. But the immoral aspect of this situation is that people cannot strike without any opposition. [...]
